welshgirl when you've had your surgery you'll be given pain relief when you're discharged. Having an anterior repair isn't as painful as a posterior repair in fact no where near. A lot of ladies have anterior and posterior repair at the same time and cope really well. An anterior repair doesn't affect the bowel so less pain. There's no reason as to why you'll get a urine infection. Recovery time is less following an anterior repair as well.

Thankyou so much matron. Will I need stool softeners after? Or just eat plenty of prunes lol.

You could get away with eating prunes and fresh fruit and vegetables but I would have stool softeners at home just in case.

I used movicol for a few days and used senacot a couple of times. Two oranges every night does it for me now.

I had fresh fruit and prunes but had stool softener in case but never needed it 😃

From the pharmacy?. Never used stool softeners, so wasn't sure.x

The hospital should prescribe them for you but as you're having a bladder repair sometimes they don't. When you have your pre op you could ask them.

Hi matron, is the bulge with cystocele prolapse the bladder

Pushing down onto the front wall? Do they actually move the

Bladder back into correct position when they stitch the wall?

Hate this ball feeing inside me.makes you feel you want to pull

      It out😅

Sorry then I think they repair the wall..put it back in its place I'm not 100% sure..mine was posterior one 🙁🙁

Hi welshgirl. Yes it's the bladder you feel and they have to put it back in position but you'll feel swollen for quite a while after the surgery.

Hi matron, you say its the bladder pushing through the wall?

I hate this feeling.when I need a poo the bulge feels worse.I guess its because both organs are close together and the bladder had dropped? Sorry for all these question's matron.😕xx

I don't mind all the questions welshgirl. Yes the bowel, bladder and uterus are very close together. That's why this surgery is so delicate and should only be performed by someone who has undergone years of urogynaecology training.

Thanks matron.. Yes your right a urogynacologist is a must.I did months of research before I made my choice. X

That was very wise welshgirl because pelvic floor surgery in my view is so specialised.

I feel so much better I can call on you with my worries.you truly are a blessing matron. No doubt a lot more ladies will agree with me.☺

Sorry to jump in! I have my surgery in 3 weeks, TVH and anterior repair. I'm concerned as its being done by a gyno not a urogynocologist! Only had a 20min consult with 5 min exam at the Bath clinic. I'm only 45 and don't want reoccurring problems. I'm very concerned. I will do a full post tomorrow after work, just wanted a bit of advice to wake up to. 😁

Hi Rosie, matron is the best one to ask but for any surgery related. To pelvic floor issues a urogynacologist is the only surgeon that's been highly trained up in that field.I did months of research

before I choose my surgeon. Send a message to matron and she will put your mind at rest hun. Good luck. X

Are you absolutely sure he's not a Urogynaecologist? They often just use the title gynaecologist.

You can always send me a personal message telling me his name and the area where the hospital is and I'll check Rosie
