How do you know if your venous valves are damaged? If so can they ever heal?

I have swelling in my leg and foot which only goes away when I get my leg up higher than my heart. I know I have clots some seven months old, some younger but there is little on the interwebs on improvement. In fact, I can't find anyone that reversed their post thrombotic syndrome without stenting. I also can't find anything on healing venous valves. I found one sentence that said MPFF(micronized purified flavinoid fraction) can help improve a damaged valve but it has no reference and cited no study. They body usually can heal things but not venous valves? Ever?
