PMR or ?

As I look back over few months I wonder if the " fractured" foot was real, after doc eventually said " arthritis" I also think the shoulder pain was not torn rotator cuffs or at least not only reason for daily agony? I was sent to specialist months sgo , for workers comp bilateral carpal tunnel and was subsequently denied after hand specialist said to go to ptinary Doctor, it's not CTS. My arms, biceps wrists hips are in extreme pain. I've been on pred x1week, moderate to minimal change--20mg. Should I increase? All symptoms sound like PMR seed rate 42, wbc is 15.2---what else could this be? I will request a rhemy, but this is scary ! Cannot sleep!

Prednisone doesnt take away all the pain for everyone unfortunately. I beleive 70% of pain going away is average. I have all the symtoms of carpal tunnel in hands and wrists and upper arm shoulder and hip pain but not as bad as before taking prednisone. Also started at 20mg and could not sleep at all. Looking back to that time 9 months ago I was really scared as well but once the rheumy ruled out all the other things I felt better. Hope you get answers soon but it sounds like pmr.

I am not happy with my Rhumatologist, she believes steroids should take pain away completely if it\s PMR that I have. I disagree with her opinion because I know my pain is 70% better on 20mg of prednisone. Why not increase the dose and see what happens or better still investigate me for GCA which responds to higher doses. So many doctors are playing guessing games with our health while we are left to suffer.

You should see a rheum, mine got me fixed up. My regular doc put me on 10mg of pred, and upped it to 15 when I still had pain. I went to a rheum, she gave me a shot of pred and the pain was totally gone except for a little numbness in my fingertips from the ct. When I called my doc for a pred refill, he wanted to reduce me back to 10. I said, no way, the rheum wants me to stay at 15 until I see her again, at which time we will talk about how to go about reducing. I've been pain free since I got the shot, and have tons of energy. I realize this may not last, but I'm loving it while it's here.

When I was diagnosed my sed rate was 51 and I had ended up in the ER the night before with pain in my shoulders, arms, thighs, and groin so bad that I couldn't lay down or sleep at all. The ER doc had no idea what was wrong with me. He thought I had rotator cuff syndrome in one shoulder and had overcompensated and got the other hurting--I thought he was nuts!!  He had given me a steroid injection because he didn't know what else to do, and within 4 hrs I felt almost normal. I was baffled as to how I could feel that much better after a steroid injection, but saw my GP that next day & he had labs drawn and told me what he thought I had, and he was right. I was started on 20mg pred & it helped, but not as well as the doctor thought it should have. Saw a rheumy 5 days later & he upped me to 30 and gave me a shot. Still didn't quite do it, and 4 days later he upped me to 40, which got it under control. I am now tapering from 7 to 6.5 and doing well. Everybody is different, so even if 15mg works for most people in the beginning, it doesn't for all.

I started on 50mg daily for a week - was brilliant. 'Almost' pain free within a day.

It seems now my doc thinks it's shoulder impingement and will stop my pred ! I sure hope she is right!! I'll go to PT and see if that helps along with muscle relaxers and Motrin. It does not explain the hip or wrist pain though or that it's bilateral but we will c! Thank you!!
